07/12/2004: "Congrats SJ! and my little hospital trip."

As I was in the hospital with muscle spasms myself, SJ had her baby girl. Congratulations, from what Ive read, it hasnt been an easy pregnancy! I hope the birth went better.

As for me, I had two hours of muscle spasms in my lower stomach. (I guess I can call them that, it was more like a knife in my stomach...) I went to the hospital which was a bumpy road. I wanted to avoid the hospital if I could...but noooo, fate had a plan I guess...or something. I was admitted to the hospital shortly before 10. They hooked me up to machines (precaustions, shesh...) and took blood. Nothing. Not a clue why I couldnt stand up straight, why I couldnt sit, why I couldnt let anyone touch my stomach or a small bump in the road made me cry in pain.

So, I get an ultrasound. Normally, untrasounds are cool. Ive had them before. Unfortunally, the nice nurses forgot to tell me I needed a full bladder for this paticular ultrasound. So what to do? I need this thing to make sure I dont have anything where its not supposed to be. Well, the answer is fill up her bladder of course!

Nurse comes in to put in a cathater for bladder, since I cant wait four more hours for it to fill up and possibly hve my stomach go nuts on me again. Except, this is the other nurse, not MY nurse...not a huge problem, she put the cathater in with no problem. Except, it didnt hurt. I had catathers in before, they hurt alot going in...this didnt. Ok, fill 'er up.

Hey! Wait! The cathater isnt in right! No wonder it didnt hurt. So my nurse comes in and puts the cathater in correctly. (Owww...), and im all ready for ultrasound and very uncomfortable to say the least. Full bladder with a woman pressing down on your stomach = not to fun. But I did get to see my bladder, uterus (was tinier than I thought!), and ovaries.

When I was looking at ovaries, hey, something didnt seem right. Why is that one all nice and round and the other look a little squished and have a black pocket around it? Ultrasound ladys thought? Ovarian cyst. That would explain that pain...

So, thinking I had found a simple explaination to my pain, I go back to the Emergency Room exam room. Waiting for the doctor to come in and...he does! He diagnosis? Not a freaking clue. They couldnt definitally say that it was or wasnt an ovarian cyst. So basically, unless the stabbing pain returns, I will never know. (And I could be perfectly happy not knowing as long as that pain doesnt come back...) I got some antiinflamatories and...at home napping.
