01/22/2005: "OpenSource Future"

My computer was offically totaled. That said, Im looking for my new computer. My parents, and boyfriend, dont like the idea of a mac. I do...I think. Not 100% sure. But I have the idea for my future computer in mind, its a HP notebook...again.

However, Im going to do away with alot of the included programs that have irked me over the years. Microsoft Works for example...is so annoying (this isnt MS word, or excel..), all those little games included? Meh, gone. Im going to wipe that computer of everything except the windows operating system and put what I want on there. Ive found some good sites with good programs.

First of all, OpenSource CD. It has many programs I already use, and several that sound a whole lot more efficent than the ones I do have. It sounds good.

My second goal is to finally figure out how to use a theme manager program like WindowBlinds which I have never figured out how to use before.

Third, no Kazaa or freaky shareware programs except for Filetopia which I have used for like 2 years, and its a good program, with no spyware or adware.

Thirdly...im not sure what I am going to do about it...but I want to ditch trillian. Never ever will I download the following programs or do any of these things:

RealPlayer
AOL Instant Messager
Yahoo Instant Messanger
Any FTP programs besides Filezilla
Any browser besides Mozilla/Firefox
No html editors besides Dreamweaver and Notepad(2)
No photo editors except for Paint Shop Pro (sorry Firegraphic, you were good...just ate my RAM up so fast...)

And now I have to go cause Im using my fathers computer...and I have none!
